Position Description

The Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor in the area of Women’s Studies, effective September 1, 2017.

We are seeking a candidate who is focused on teaching and teaching innovation in the area of Women’s Studies.  Applicants will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level, contribute to curriculum development, build student engagement in the program, commit to department and university service, and engage with the community.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies or a related discipline and demonstrate evidence of or potential for excellent achievement in teaching. The Department seeks applications from instructors who have a proven track record of teaching effectiveness.

The Interdisciplinary Women’s Studies program is administered by the Department of Philosophy and draws on expertise from throughout the Faculty of Arts. Students may complete a BA, a BA Honours, or a Minor in Women’s Studies. More information about the department and the Women’s Studies program may be found on the Department of Philosophy website.

Applications in PDF format should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy (including potential courses to be taught), previous course syllabi, teaching evaluations (if available) and three confidential letters of recommendation (with at least one letter addressing teaching ability).
