The Department of Physiology & Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Vascular Biology/Developmental Programming.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be working in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Thompson in the Libin Cardiovascular Institute. Dr. Thompson’s current research explores the molecular origins of cardio-metabolic programming in offspring born from pregnancies complicated by maternal metabolic dysfunction.

The postdoctoral fellow will work collaboratively in a team setting as well as independently in support of ongoing projects, with latitude to develop independent ideas. Experimental approaches employed in the laboratory include mouse models, in vivo and ex vivo cardiovascular preparations, cell culture, and standard molecular techniques such as PCR and immunohistochemistry.


Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Physiology or a related field within the past three years and have a solid background in molecular biology and animal handling. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a strong publication record, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior experience in surgical techniques is highly desirable.
