Position Overview

The Assistant, Future Alumni & Recent Grad Engagement position reports to the Manager, Future Alumni & Recent Grad Engagement. It consists of a combination of event management, administrative work and future alumni/recent grad outreach and engagement.

This is a fast-moving, results-oriented team focused on creating sincere, valuable relationships between the University of Calgary and our current and future alumni. Time, people, strategic thinking, creativity and attention to detail are key factors contributing towards the success of this position. This position will commence in the Fall 2017 and end in the Summer 2018 at the University of Calgary downtown campus. The salary for this position will be $22/hr.

The Assistant, Future Alumni & Recent Grad Engagement should be:

  • Energized by taking leadership on projects and eager to innovate.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask in fast-paced environment. Able to manage and track details effectively.
  • Professional presence with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

The UCalgary Alumni core office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; however, some evening and weekend work will be required in this role. This is a part-time position requiring 15-22 hours per week, with some flexibility based on academic schedules. 

Working closely with the Manager, Future Alumni & Recent Grad Engagement, the Assistant, Future Alumni & Recent Grad Engagement will:

  • Provide support for the any committee work within the portfolio
  • Coordinate logistics for recent grad programming
  • Oversee the execution of recent grad events
  • Analyze data and feedback from alumni to continually enhance programming
  • Support and motivate student leaders to serve as ambassadors, building pride, spirit and tradition across the student body
  • Foster meaningful relationships between the UCalgary Alumni team and the newest additions to the alumni family
  • Support the creation, execution and evaluation of a student engagement plan and programming

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Must be enrolled as a Grad Student or in one full-time course at the University of Calgary for every semester of work
  • Two to three years’ experience in an office environment preferred
  • Knowledge of community or alumni relations programming or event planning processes
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend, as required
