Position Overview

Starbucks within the Ancillary Services is currently seeking ten (10) Recurring Part-time Starbucks Barista(s).

Reporting to the Starbucks Operations Coordinator, this position assists the Starbucks Operations associate in the daily operation of Starbucks. Sales volumes increase dramatically from September to March possibly leading to highly stressful situations. Positions at this level generally involve some light manual duties.



Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Under the direction of the area coordinator this position assists the daily operation of Starbucks
  • Food preparation training
  • Daily cash reconciliation of all sales receipts will be required; therefore a full working knowledge of all University policies and procedures is a necessity
  • There will be a high volume of food production in the area, therefore a good working knowledge of principles, techniques and practices of food preparation and storage is a must
  • Conduct daily production checks to ensure proper planning is in place to meet the demands of the day
  • Training includes Barista, Team Lead, A.S.T. (Advanced Store Training) and all Starbucks Operation requirements
  • Ordering of supplies and necessary items for daily function
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of associates as required
  • Utmost is the ability to ensure that Starbucks standards for outstanding customer service and quality food production and presentation are met on a consistent basis

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of experience in a Starbucks is an asset
  • Barista Certified
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Food Safety Training is an asset but required after hired
  • Criminal background check may be required
