Reporting to the Associate Director, Customer Engagement the incumbent will work as a Business Relationship Partner with one or more faculty/ business unit(s).  This role serves as the trusted advisor and the strategic business relationship linkage between faculties/business unit(s) and Information Technology (IT), at the faculty/business unit executive level to stimulate, surface and shape demand for IT services and ensure business value is realized and optimized.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

The Business Relationship Partner works with the faculty/business unit leadership teams and is positoned as a Single Point of Focus in order to make the right connections for the Business and IT, and acts as the primary communication channel for strategic issues.  They will be an advocate for the business within IT and IT within the business providing highly-valued strategic consulting level support and guidance for key IT initiatives.

In collaboration with the Business and Enterprise Architects, the Business Relationship Partner is responsible for developing the multi-year strategic roadmap for the business/units IT initiatives. They will be responsible for educating and informing the university of IT Standards, processes and procedures and will guide the institution through the prioritization of IT projects and facilitate the planning and execution of business changes through the use of technology.

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Strategic Partnering

  • Portfolio Management

  • Relationship Management

  • Strong Communication Skills

  • Organizational Change Management

  • Business Relationship Principles

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business administration, computer science, or management information systems is recommended (An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired will be considered)

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including strategic planning, business development or client management and working with a broad range of diverse and complicated business units

  • A record of leadership and vision must be combined with awareness of current and emerging developments in education information technologies and applications

  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with Faculty and Business Units

  • Business acumen is essential. Demonstrated experience in successfully negotiating people both directly and indirectly across an organization will be expected

  • Experience working at a post-secondary institution is considered an asset

  • Experience identifying and developing end to end solutions to address changing business requirements is essential

  • BRMI Certification and organizational change management certification such as Prosci are considered an asset
