Position Overview

The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts invites applications for a Coordinator. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 9 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Principal Investigator and will involve working on multiple research initiatives, including literature searches, telephone screening, and data collection.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Recruit research subjects at different work locations (e.g., Alberta Childrens Hospital, University of Calgary) and at family events
  • Conduct screening interviews and offer information in regards to the study to potential participants on the phone and in-person
  • Prepare materials for assessment visits
  • Plan, implement, and maintain data collection and analysis systems in line with an established research protocol
  • Ensure that all data is collected and feedback is provided to families in a timely manner
  • Manage data entry
  • Complete literature searches and reviews, help develop presentations using PowerPoint, and help create posters for presentations

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • BA or BSc with Honours in psychology or a closely related discipline
  • Experience working in a pediatric oncology setting
  • Experience conducting diagnostic screens/interviews of individuals on the phone and in-person
  • Recent experience in completing anthropometric measurements and in processing actigraphy data is an asset
  • Experience with SPSS and Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage new research related responsibilities as they arise
  • Flexible about work locations (e.g., University of Calgary, Alberta Children’s Hospital) and hours (e.g., potential evening and weekend hours).
  • Familiarity with University of Calgary research policies and procedures is an asset
