Position Overview

Information Technologies is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief Web Analyst for approximately 6 months.

This position reports to the Manager, Web Content Management (WCM), in Information Technologies. This position is responsible for working within the Web Content Management (WCM) team in the development and support of websites within the Drupal CMS. The nature of the job requires a well-rounded knowledge of digital development processes and toolsets. The Web Analyst requires strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills as well as good time management skills and the ability to multi-task. The incumbent deals effectively with complex issues in the WCM area. The position also involves a component of customer contact as it pertains to the maintenance and support of existing websites.

This position demonstrates good written and oral communication skills as well as good team and customer service skills. The incumbent requires a strong commitment to take responsibility for one’s own learning and development. It requires good analytical skills and the ability to assess information, reflect on events, feedback and other information in order to problem solve. The incumbent will have the opportunity to be involved in discussions that determine the course of action for the WCM project and may recommend changes to methods, procedures, and practices.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Development and Maintenance

  • Implementation of new functionality
  • Maintenance of Drupal environment(s)
  • Quality assurance of contribute releases and coordination for release
  • Investigation of site errors and/or outages
  • Ensure that WCM callers receive confirmation of the receipt of their request.
  • Ensure trouble calls assigned to this position are resolved.
  • Ensure adequate notes are kept on each call

Client Services

  • Demonstrate good comprehension of the UCIT WCM service
  • Arrange and implement the migration of websites for faculties and departments

Communication / Relationships

  • Demonstrate friendly, complete, competent customer service and support at all times in all situations
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in Team environment for information, skills and knowledge sharing
  • Demonstrate a willingness to keep technical knowledge current

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience in a technical support capacity is required in this position
  • Good knowledge of Web site design, development and maintenance
  • Good working knowledge of Drupal
  • Specific qualifications include:
    • Front end / theme development skills (HTML/CSS, SASS or similar CSS pre-processor)
    • Good knowledge of web programming languages (HTML, CSS/SASS, PHP)
    • Good knowledge of MySQL / relational database software
    • Good Drupal development skills
    • Experience with building custom Drupal modules
    • Experience building Feature modules
    • Familiarity with core Drupal APIs (Form API, Database API, Field API)
    • Knowledge of best practices for digital design and an understanding of the principles of responsive design
    • Experience with Bash shell scripting would be an asset
    • Experience with Perl would be an asset
    • Experience with SVN or Git would be an asset
    • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks of varying complexity, ability to work independently and under pressure, as required
    • A general knowledge of the culture and operating procedures of the university
