Talent Development Consultant, Talent Management, Human Resources

Position Overview

Talent Management within Human Resources is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Talent Development Consultant.

This position reports to the Team Lead, Talent Development and will collaborate with members of the HR department as well as leaders from across campus to design and implement appropriate solutions to develop and retain employees. The Consultant will work in a complex, dynamic and fast-paced environment, while managing stakeholder needs and supporting multiple projects.

The Consultant will play a key role in ensuring employees are able to support the achievement of the University's Eyes High vision and in building capabilities of employees by contributing to the development of design principles, frameworks, initiatives, programs, processes and tools that support Talent Management. This will include learning and development, organizational development, employee engagement, career development, and performance management and related activities.

Hours of employment are standard (Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 4:30 pm), however additional hours may be required during peak periods as well as flexibility during the workday as the position will be required to facilitate and participate in meetings/sessions outside of core hours and in locations on and off-campus.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Learning & Development

  • Conduct needs analysis
  • Design, develop and implement learning and development workshops
  • Implement and maintain design standards for course materials in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Facilitate workshops from multiple programs focused on different areas of the organization
  • Evaluate and measure outcomes

Organizational Development

  • Work collaboratively with team members and leaders to develop and implement University wide organization development programs, initiatives, tools and/or resources based on organizational needs, research and analysis. Areas of focus may include but are not limited to:
    • faculty and staff engagement
    • performance management and improvement
    • team and operational effectiveness
    • strategic planning and team goal setting
    • organizational assessment and design
    • succession and workforce planning
    • leader and staff development

Human Resources and Talent Management Collaboration

  • Work in collaboration with all HR functional areas on projects with shared responsibility
  • Participate in ongoing assessment and improvement of Talent Management and HR programs and services; contribute to the design and implementation of HR best practices (e.g. learning and development, orientation/onboarding, performance development, and succession planning)

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Adult Education or related discipline is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years in a consultative role, in an internal or external capacity, with proven ability to influence, build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholder groups in large, complex organizational environments
  • An in-depth knowledge of learning and development, organizational development and change management is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with adult learning principles and methodologies is required
  • Experience in needs analysis, design, development and implementation of highly effective learning and development programs is preferred
  • Excellent facilitation skills are required and experience facilitating multiple types of training material
  • Experience supporting change initiatives in an organization is an asset
  • Familiarity with and understanding of onboarding programs, career development, employee, manager and team development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work confidently with senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment, including exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with learning management systems (LMS) is an asset
  • Excellent group facilitation skills with the ability to consider all points of view and reach effective recommendations
  • Certification in psychometric assessments is preferred (Insights)
  • CPHR designation is an asset
