Position Description
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (http://www.ucalgary.ca/dcns/) at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, in partnership with the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI) and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) invites applications for a Contingent Term position at the Assistant Professor level.
Qualifications include an MD, Canadian Royal College specialist certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, graduate level research training with a PhD degree relevant to the research direction below and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.
The successful candidate will join the Section of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Calgary. They will be expected to provide exceptional clinical care with a focus on pediatric rehabilitation. The position will be based at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and will have considerable time protected for academic activity. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a research and innovation program focused on advancing the understanding and treatment of childhood neuromotor disorders. The preferred candidate must provide evidence of obtaining peer reviewed research funding and strong track record of scholarly activity, with 15 or more peer-reviewed publications. The candidate will also be expected to participate in teaching of medical students, residents, clinical and research fellows, and graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to start their position between April 1 to September 30, 2023.
Salary support will be through an Academic Medicine Health Services Plan (AMHSP) supported by Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services and the Cumming School of Medicine.
The Section of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation benefits from affiliation with both the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute at the University of Calgary. Both will engage the appropriate clinician scientist applicant.
