Position Overview
The Research Services Office in the Office of the Vice-President (Research) invites applications for a Manager, Outreach & Education. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 2 years (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Working in this context, the Office of the Vice-President (Research) (VPR) is responsible to enhance institutional research capacity, maximize opportunities for impact, measure and communicate research impact, and oversee administrative and regulatory files. Within the VPR Portfolio, the Research Services Office (RSO) supports researchers and their teams to navigate funding, contracts, ethics, compliance, and commercialization.
Research Services is comprised of 75+ staff that include 5 directors, 15 managers, 5 divisions and 14 high performance units that generate over $500 million in annual sponsored research.
Within RSO, Research Security acts as a resource to faculty and to the research enterprise to navigate new and changing requirements from the federal and provincial governments and international regulations on national security guidelines related to research partnerships. It serves as a one-stop shop in providing information and guidance on how to safeguard research from theft, interference, or unwanted transfer of knowledge and that results in ways individuals and teams do not intend.
Research Security is a division comprised of three units that include: Education and Outreach, Due Diligence and Compliance, Mitigation, and Special Investigations. This position will lead the Education and Outreach team.
The Manager, Outreach and Education reports to the Director of Research Security, and will be responsible to oversee all day-to-day activities related to outreach and education and working with other units across the University. The manager will have full leadership accountability for a team of two staff with support and mentorship from the Director. It will have responsibility for awareness campaigns, setting up a research security website, organizing in-person workshops, developing program materials, providing a 'train-the-trainer' model to support researchers, faculty and staff within the University of Calgary, and coordinating activity with relevant UCalgary stakeholders.
