Area:     Digital Twin and Safe Transportation of Clean Energy through Pipelines  
Duration:    24+ months    
Start date:   Immediate*
Salary:    $45,000+ CAD per year, plus University of Calgary Plan C Benefits

The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the areas of pipelines research especially for multiphase fluid dynamics, structural integrity and stress analysis, artificial intelligence, and leak detections.   

Job Description:
A position is available in the Pipeline Engineering Centre (“PEC”) at the University of Calgary for a postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary team developing a novel way to transport clean energy resources through pipelines. The work will also involve development, design, modeling, experiments, and application aspects of digital twin of pipelines. The postdoctoralresearcher will be closely collaborating with the sponsors and mentoring other team members.  

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Engineering or a related field  
  • The position requires experience in one ore more of following areas:
    • Digital twin
    • Multiphase fluid dynamics
    • Stress / Finite Element Analysis
    • Leak detections
    • Hydrogen pipelines
    • Artificial intelligence and Data analytics
    • Sensing and Monitoring – field operations
  • The applicant should be motivated and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • The successful candidates will have a proven record of success and be able to conduct research independently as well as part of a team.  

To be eligible as a Postdoctoral scholar at the University of Calgary, you must have been awarded a PhD or equivalent within the five (5) years immediately preceding the appointment. Please review the Postdoc Eligibility Guidelines for more information prior to applying for this position.
