Position Description
The Department of Chemistry, within the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a Winter 2024 Term Sessional Instructor.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities for instruction (lectures and tutorial) and associated duties for this 3-unit course during the Winter 2024 term.
Chemistry 579: Surface and Colloid Chemistry for Engineers
Introduces the fundamental and applied aspects of interfacial phenomena including capillarity, surface and interfacial tension, films, wetting and contact angles, adsorption, micellization, solubilization and emulsification. Examples drawn from colloids, foams, aerosols and macromolecules.

Winter 2024 Term Dates: Tuesday, January 2, 2024, to Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a PhD in chemistry or related area and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. The appointees will be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science, particularly in Chemistry. Previous experience in teaching physical chemistry at the University of Calgary is an important asset. Experience coordinating laboratories and/or teams of graduate student teaching assistants is especially valuable, as is familiarity with the campus learning management system, D2L.
