Position Overview

The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant.  This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

The PERT Research Assistant will participate in the conduct of clinical trials and prospective cohort studies. 

The position will be located at the Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) Emergency Department (ED).

This is a recurring part time position with variable hours.  Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for site coordination of a Health Canada controlled Clinical Trial, including collaboration with national lead site
  • Responsible for site coordination of a translational study, including coordination with national lead site
  • Assisting with all aspects of the PEMRAP program including:
    • Research Associate intake
    • Coordinating and carrying out New Research Associate Orientation night
    • Recruitment/training in the Emergency Department
    • Integrating the research team with the Emergency Department Staff
    • Integrating the PEMRAP Program with other Research Programs at ACH
    • Liaising with Volunteer Services

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 1-3 years previous experience required
  • Prior Clinical Trials experience is required
  • A combination of education and experience is highly valued
  • Prior Mentorship experiences will be highly valued
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience with research database (i.e. REDCap) are highly valued
