Position Overview

The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant.  This Full-time Fixed Term is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reports to the Principal Investigator.

This position is located at the Alberta Children's Hospital. This research team focuses on clinical research in the areas of critically ill children, children with neurological conditions, and patients with neuroinflammatory disease.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for screening and enrolment of eligible patients

  • Manage and maintain study databases

  • Experience in the use of bedside evoked potential technology or technical aptitude to develop skills

  • Utilization and integration of multimodal data and machine learning techniques

  • Data collection (e.g., health data from medical records, questionnaires) and data entry

  • Data cleaning, and assistance with data analysis

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Master's Degree preferred, experience in health-related field also is desirable because of the nature of the work
  • Experience with ethics applications and study management required
  • Experience with consent for study participants required
  • Integration of multimodal data so experience with data management, standard analysis, and machine learning techniques is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work independently, to multi-task, and to coordinate work with others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and research databases
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to self-motivate, shift priorities, and take initiative
  • Resourceful, energetic, self-directed, creative
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skill
