Position Overview

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Associate. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 8 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

LIFE (Lifestyle Interventions to Fend off Dementia): A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis of Lifestyle Interventions to Prevent Dementia.

This position reports to the Principal Investigator.

This is a recurring part-time position with variable hours.  Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

 

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Work with the PI and trainees to complete the systematic review including timely review of abstracts, pulling full text, reviewing full text, tracking articles in PRISMA flow diagram, data extraction, risk of bias assessment, qualitative and quantitative syntheses of results.
  • Budget involvement including developing reports, tracking expenses, and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Responsible for presentations in producing figures for publication.
  • Produce initial drafts of manuscripts for publication and appropriate scientific journals.
  • Conduct literature review, surveys, data analysis and interpretation, and other research for use in scholarly publications.
  • Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with staff, peers, immediate supervisor and senior management and with the campus community.
  • Manages own time effectively and ensures immediate reports to manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Completed graduate degree or currently completing a graduate degree is an asset.
  • Experience with Systematic Review processes and meta- analyses.
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Interact with other members of the team and undertake literature reviews.
  • Must be open to learning and development, and be willing to accept new challenges and assignments.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment within established guidelines.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
