The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Resilience in the Post-secondary Context.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will support a transdisciplinary team of researchers, practitioners, administrators, and community partners to further understanding about resilience in the post-secondary context.

Supervisor: Dr. Jennifer Thannhauser, RPsych, Counsellor, Student Wellness Services; Evaluation Lead, Campus Mental Health Strategy

The postdoctoral scholar will serve as the research coordinator for a transdisciplinary research study exploring resilience in the post-secondary context, funded by a SSHRC Partnership Development Grant (PDG). This initiative aims to establish a cross-national partnership to explore students¿ experiences of resilience in the post-secondary context and identify how social-ecological systems within the partner institutions interact to influence student resilience. The crux of the proposed partnership is to meaningfully engage students in developing a more comprehensive, systemic understanding of the supports and resources needed to advance student resilience and well-being in the post-secondary context.  The postdoctoral scholar will develop advanced research skills through planning, coordinating, and conducting the research project with the core research team and community partners. The postdoctoral scholar will also provide mentorship to a team of undergraduate and graduate research assistants from University of Calgary, University of Saskatchewan, University of Toronto ¿ OISE, and Dalhousie University.

The postdoctoral scholar will be embedded within the lab of Dr. Andrew Szeto, Professor (Psychology) and Director of the Community Mental Health and Well-being Strategy. Given the collaborative nature of a PDG, the research team is committed to supporting an enriching learning opportunity for the successful postdoctoral scholar. Qualifications:

¿ Required: Ph.D. in psychology, counselling psychology, social work, or related field.
¿ Advanced research skills, including qualitative and/or quantitative methods, report writing, and presentations.
¿ Experience in human subjects research.
¿ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
¿ Effective and efficient organization and planning skills.
¿ Data management skills.
¿ Experience with knowledge translation activities, including knowledge mobilization.
¿ Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of partners.
¿ Proven ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and demands.
¿ Demonstrated ability to supervise/mentor students and research assistants.
¿ Experience integrating EDI in research is an asset.
