Salary:   $55000 CAD per annum, plus University of Calgary Plan C health benefits

The Department of Medical Genetics  in the Cumming School of Medicine  at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Brain Development and Disease Mechanism .

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in biochemisty to explore the mechanisms underlying rare neurodevelopmental disorders.  This opportunity is available immediately in the Yang Laboratory (yanglaboratory.ca) at the University of Calgary, within the Departments of Medical Genetics and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or an equivalent degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or a related discipline, within the last 0-36 months
  • A demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including a minimum of one first-author peer-reviewed research publication
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in biochemistry (e.g., enzyme assays, protein-protein interaction assays, PTM analysis using MS, protein expression & purification), molecular biology (e.g., in vitro transcription, molecular cloning, cell-based reporter assays), and cell biology, evidenced by relevant research achievements and skills
  • Prior research experience working with human cells and/or mouse models
  • Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills
