The Dean's Office in the Faculty of Graduate Studies is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Graduate Recruitment Communications Specialist for approximately 2 years.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) has approximately 8000 graduate students dispersed over 225 programs within the University. The University of Calgary's Framework for Growth plan anticipates a significant increase in graduate learners, supported by development of innovative, future-focused programs and credentials with relatively broad appeal. FGS is building out the first UCalgary Graduate Student Recruitment Plan that establishes FGS as a hub to support and engage programs and faculty across campus. The result will be streamlined, coordinated efforts, with tools to support programs and faculty, as well as marketing that enhances our global, national and provincial brand.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, FGS, the incumbent will work closely with the Graduate Recruitment team, and will work collaboratively with multiple members of FGS. The incumbent will also connect regularly with leadership, faculty and staff in graduate programs and other units that are actively engaged in recruitment of graduate students.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Work with Recruitment team to assess current state of recruitment assets and develop a strategic plan to update and ensure effective branding of current content.
  • Develop branded graphics for digital, social media, website, and print material.
  • Develop, maintain, and assess effectiveness of events, forms, mailings, campaigns, and more within the Slate CRM.
  • Update key templated assets in the Graduate Recruitment toolkit which consists of a suite of tailored assets for targeted recruitment.
  • Work with Unibuddy Ambassadors to write internal stories and blogs for UToday and other UCalgary channels, conducting interviews with students, staff and faculty.
  • Maintain and update content on current website as needed, including Recruitment event listing using LiveWhale.
  • Plan, film and edit original video content for multiple initiatives, platforms and audiences.
  • Work with the Recruitment team to develop and coordinate newsletter content, editing and distribution.
  • Support the gathering, analysis and reporting of recommendations using Google Analytics and other tools.
  • Support the editing and promotion of webinars and other recruitment events as needed.
  • Support the promotion and updating of technology such as digital tours and custom viewbooks.
  • Maintain a system of organizing digital files.
  • Special projects and other duties to support the FGS team as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of related, progressive experience.
  • A Bachelor¿s degree in business, public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or related field is required (equivalent combination of education and experience will be
    considered).
  • A credential in graphic design is an asset.
  • Demonstrated excellence in graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Bridge, Acrobat) is required.
  • Experience with web content management systems (e.g., Drupal), Marketo, Sprout Social and Qualtrics are assets. Knowledge of Meta Business Suite and Google Ads is an asset.
  • Experience with Customer Relations Management tools (e.g. Slate).
  • Experience with coding as related to website and CRM development is a strong asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of branding, marketing, and the design process is required.
  • Knowledge of University culture, context, and strategic plans is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in video planning, creation and post-production using Adobe Premier Pro and Audition.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media management, digital marketing, SEO, Google Analytics.
  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills.
  • Strong computer skills, web-based research skills and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in quickly understanding a project, extrapolating its needs, and proposing solutions and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Proven record of success in working in in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be results oriented, showing initiative and creativity to identify areas for improvement and to implement potential solutions.
  • High level of personal effectiveness and strong organizational skills, together with the ability to work to deadlines while managing multiple tasks is required.
