The School & Applied Child Psychology program in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in ADHD and Resilience.

Duration: 2 years

Start Date: December 1, 2024 (or at agreed upon time)

Salary: $60,000/year plus extended health care benefits

Job Description:

A full-time Postdoctoral Scholar (PDS) opportunity is available at the University of Calgary, Canada, to begin on or about December 1, 2024 under the supervision of Drs. Schroeder and Climie. This PDS will contribute to a variety of projects aimed at gaining deeper insights into individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) across childhood, youth, and emerging adulthood, with a particular emphasis on recognizing and harnessing their strengths. Potential research projects may include:

• Examination of the strengths, stigmatization, and experiences of children & youth with ADHD and their families
• Collaboration with partner organizations to carry out exploratory national research projects related to knowledge of ADHD, stigma, and knowledge translation
• Supporting the transition to higher education 

The PDS will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with researchers from various faculties across campus (e.g., psychology, medicine, community health, computer science), community organizations, and institutions across the country. In addition, the PDS will expand research in these areas through the development of complementary research proposals and projects.

Qualifications:

Requirements include: 

• PhD in a relevant social science discipline (e.g., school, counselling, clinical, developmental, or health psychology); note: Applicants must have completed their degree within the last 5 years
• Expertise in clinical research related to ADHD, mental health, children/youth, lifespan development
• A strong background in quantitative data analysis
• Knowledge of quantitative data analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Demonstrated productivity for peer-reviewed publications
• Interest in working collaboratively with national and local research partners, as well as supervision and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students
