The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Lab Manager for the Dukelow Lab, Department of Clinical Neurosciences.

The Research Coordinator will provide research support services on different stroke studies.  They will also interact and liaise with the Clinical Stroke Research team as some projects will cross over with their team. Current studies explore the impact and rehabilitation of individuals with recovering from stroke. Research projects involve a wide range of technology related interventions including: robotics, non-invasive neuromodulation, neuroimaging, clinical rehabilitation.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Generate various reports as required by Principal Investigator/Lab Manager and research team
  • Familiarity and able to organize data from different sources. (Robotic neuro-imaging, TMS, EMG, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of different study protocols and lab procedures
  • Recruitment of participants from both in-patient units and out-patient clinics
  • Provide support in the laboratory including setting up and running the robot
  • Support and run TMS sessions
  • Provide support for clinical assessments, administering motor learning assessments, qualitative interviews, cognitive assessments, and phone interviews
  • Transporting patients between different lab locations
  • Assist with presenting as required
  • Ensure that the data is handled carefully at all times
  • Reimbursement of subjects for parking/travel, recording of distributions of reimbursements
  • Inputting data to the database
  • Digitizing and filing charts
  • Thorough knowledge of different study protocols and procedures
  • Recruitment of Healthy control subjects from the community
  • Completion of University required documents

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or related training and 1-2 years of work experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent Attention to Detail
  • Demonstrated ability for professional report writing
  • Knowledge of research ethics
  • Ability to problem solve in complex situations
  • Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
  • GCP and TCPS2 certification desirable
  • Knowledge of the University of Calgary processes and procedures is desirable
