Description

The Department of Athletics in the Faculty of Kinesiology is currently seeking a Recurring Part-time Social Media Coordinator.

This is a term position at approximately 15-20 hours per week through the end of April 2025 with the possibility of extension.

The University of Calgary Athletic Department supports 23 varsity teams and nine competitive clubs. A unit within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Dinos Athletics competes within the Canada West Conference and U SPORTS. Dinos Athletics is committed to competing with the very best university teams in Canada while building pride on campus.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Social Media Coordinator works closely with members of the communications, events, and marketing team to implement social media strategy for Dinos Athletics. The Social Media Coordinator delivers the day-to-day implementation of selected communication activities, including the generation and distribution of creative content.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Work with Communications Manager to set social media objectives and establish key messages.
  • Help coordinate presence on social media channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  • Collaborate with photographers and videographers on the generation of creative content.
  • Create print and digital collateral, in alignment with Dinos Athletics brand standards.
  • Report on analytic insights and trends to help them evolve the social media strategy.
  • Use initiative and good judgment, and work in a cooperative, timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide general communications support as needed.
     

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completed or currently completing a post-secondary education, preferably a university degree in communications, marketing or related field.
  • Passionate about sport and basic knowledge of university sport and U SPORTS.
  • Flexible schedule, available to work game nights (evenings and weekends).
  • Strong writing and editing skills, able to produce high-quality content on short deadlines. 
  • Experience in producing a variety of communication materials for various audiences.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as social media platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
