Student Wellness Services in the Student Experience and Support is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Health Promotion Program Assistant for approximately 12 months.

Student Experience and Support (SES) at the University of Calgary is comprised of a diverse group of professionals who strive to contribute and continually enhance the learning environment and experiences of students through delivering inclusive centralized services, programs, and resources to support students in meeting their potential for academic success, personal well-being, and career achievement. This position plays a vital role in promoting the health and wellbeing of the campus community.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Campus Well-being Services, the primary purpose of this position is to provide support for a variety of health promotion projects and programs for University of Calgary Students. This position will work directly with other members of Campus Well-being Services, as well as other internal and external health and wellbeing providers to enhance services and programs offered to UCalgary Students.

This position typically follows standard operating hours Monday through Friday. However, there may be occasions when additional hours or flexibility are required to address urgent matters or attend to administrative responsibilities. This is a term position until the end of August 2025 with the possibility of extension

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Support for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of student-centered health promotion initiatives and programs for UCalgary students.
  • Support the coordination and facilitation of wellness workshops/presentations.
  • Support wellness promotion activities at health fairs, orientation and student service events such as Orientation Week, Open House.
  • Support collaborations with other faculties and departments across the campus community on health promotion initiatives.
  • Support the development, distribution, and maintenance of promotional materials and tools.
  • Provides support to volunteers and peer support teams.
  • Creates and maintains a welcoming and safe environment for diverse populations.
  • Collects and compiles qualitative and quantitative data related to participants, volunteers, and events.
  • Support the maintenance and coordination of tracking spreadsheets for health promotion outreach, training programs and activities.
  • Contribute to the reporting of key health and outreach activities of Campus Well-being Services.
  • Identify opportunities to align the promotion and education of mental health and well-being with the purpose, vision, and principles of the Campus Mental Health and Well-being Strategy.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Health Promotion or a related field.
  • 1-3 years experience working in health promotion and a post-secondary environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and equipment (e.g. email, shared network, website updates).
  • Ability to work effectively in a changing environment.
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and changing priorities with tight timelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops/group presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
