The Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a CHEM 203 Sessional Instructor in the Winter 2025 term. The successful candidate will have responsibilities for lab coordination, and any other associated duties for this 3-unit course during the Winter 2025 term 

Course Description: CHEM 203 - General Chemistry: Change and Equilibrium

An Introduction university chemistry from theoretical and practical perspectives that focuses on an exploration of the fundamental links between kinetics, equilibria and thermodynamics and explores acidity/basicity and redox behaviour using inorganic and organic examples.

Winter 2025 Term Dates: Monday, January 6, 2025 - Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Teaching Schedule: As lab coordinator, you are not responsible for teaching a lab section. You will be overseeing the team of teaching assistants in charge of the 38 lab sections running from Tuesday to Thursday 8:00am-6:20pm

Delivery Mode: All course components will be delivered in-person

Qualifications: Candidates will ideally have a Ph.D. in chemistry (or related field) and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. The appointees will be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science, particularly in Chemistry. Previous experience in teaching CHEM 201, 203 or 209 courses at UCalgary is an important asset. Experience in coordinating laboratories and/or teams of graduate student teaching assistants is especially valuable, as is familiarity with the campus learning management system, D2L.
