The Natural Sciences Program within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a Winter 2025 Term Sessional Instructor.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities for lecture instruction, assessments, maintenance and coordination of D2L website, teaching assistant supervision, and any other associated duties for this 3-unit course during the term.
Science 501 - Project Course In Natural Science acts as the capstone experience for Natural Sciences students and is intended to achieve integration and interdisciplinarity within the Natural Sciences program.
By the end of the course, the students will be expected to be able to:
- analyze and synthesize a large quantity of diverse information on a topic.
- critically assess an existing body of scientific literature, evaluating its significance and identifying its limitations.
- apply sound, analytical principles of research design to answer a scientific question.
- develop clear and effective oral and written communications.
- work effectively in teams.
- provide constructive criticism to aid others in developing their research ideas.
Winter 2025 Term Dates: January 6, 2025 - April 30, 2025
Teaching Schedule: TuTh 2:00PM - 3:15PM.
Delivery Mode: All course components will be delivered in-person.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Applicants should have a minimum of a Master's degree, with Ph.D. preferred, in a scientific discipline.
- Evidence of previous teaching experience and effectiveness at the post-secondary level is a strong asset, preferably in the course subject area.
- Experience with the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) course management system, knowledge of best practices for assessments, and techniques for engaging students will be considered assets.
