The Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a Research Associate. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This is a recurring part-time position for a term of 12 months, reporting to the principal investigator (PI) Dr. Aniela dela Cruz, Associate Professor, Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary.
The nature of work varies with job stressors being moderate and including deadlines and attention to detail. The Research Associate will be required to work between Monday and Friday 25-30 hours per week. The work environment requires time spent at a computer, on the telephone, attendance at project team meetings and other project related activities. The nature of the work involves a variety of duties and tasks performed and have few physical demands.
The position requires judgment and decision-making. Decisions will be guided by study protocols and guidelines. The incumbent will collect research data, prepare research data for analysis, and/or write reports for dissemination. This position also requires independently knowing where to look for information, and contributing to discussions about solutions to complex problems in a team setting. The work requires a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to re-prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines. The incumbent must also be able to work with diverse teams of researchers and community collaborators with varying levels of experience to ensure equitable involvement and learning throughout the research processes.
The Research Associate¿s primary purpose is to assist the Principal Investigator with research activities related to the PI¿s program of research (HIV related stigma, public health policy, and stigma intervention study among people living with or affected by HIV). The Research Associate will be responsible for data collection, preparing data for analysis, data analysis, and/or writing research reports as needed. The Research Associate will be working within a team environment; the team is in multiple sites across Canada, including Alberta. The Research Associate will liaise with the research team and participate in relevant project team meetings and/or supervisor meetings.
The Research Associate will demonstrate and maintain professionalism and confidentiality. This position deals with shifting priorities; the Research Associate will also ensure deadlines are met and that the information provided is accurate, employing their attention to detail.
