The Information Technology is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Specialist, Cybersecurity and Privacy Awareness.

The Specialist, Cybersecurity and Privacy Awareness is responsible for leading the planning, execution, delivery, and evaluation of cybersecurity and privacy education and awareness initiatives and training across the University. These initiatives are intended to educate staff, students, researchers, and management of the University on cybersecurity and privacy risks and compliance as it relates to their work and University operations, and to build a culture of cybersecurity and privacy awareness across the organization.

This position reports to the Manager, Governance, Risk and Compliance, but will also work closely with Legal Services and will take direction from the Manager, FOIP as it relates to privacy initiatives. The position works 35 hours per week, with normal business hours being 8:00 - 4:00, Monday to Friday. The position requires the ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment balancing multiple priorities with tight deadlines.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Work with customers, IT, Project Managers, students, and representatives from various faculties/departments on campus to understand cyber security and privacy educational requirements or challenges
  • Research, and define, and develop cyber security awareness content
  • Cybersecurity news reviews
  • Discovering content for simulation-based training such as phishing population testing
  • Collect and analyze KPI and KRI information
  • Work with the leadership teams in IT and the Privacy Office to define annual goals and objectives
  • Responsible for full cycle operational project management including initiating planning, execution, and monitoring and controlling the work required for the projects to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Closing processes and reporting will also be required
  • Manage lifecycle of all awareness products, content and materials
  • Responsible for ensuring all documentation is detailed, accurate, timely, and meets the requirements of the project stakeholders and operations.  These documents may include but are not limited to:
    • Awareness platforms setup and configuration
    • Service catalog request items for awareness
    • Release documentation
    • Support documentation, FAQs, known issues, errors related to awareness platforms
    • Develop technical documentation, standards, and guidelines
    • Work with communications team to develop and maintain the cybersecurity and privacy website content
    • Develop and execute roadmaps to enhance the maturity of the program
    • Create and analyze metrics to adjust the program to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the awareness education
  • Administer the content in the enterprise learning management systems and learning content creation tools or platforms
  • Administer and provide technical support for threat simulation campaigns using a software platform
  • Administer website content

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Diploma, certificate, or professional designation in project management considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5+ year's recent, related work experience in one or more of the following fields: 
    • cybersecurity awareness, or 
    • education/training, or
    • project management
  • Experience running and supporting simulation-based training campaigns such as phishing and other elicitation is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in high-paced environment, managing tight deadlines and competing priorities
  • Passionate about customer service excellence
  • Web content creation experience with Drupal or another content website content management system is considered an asset
  • Experience with Articulate, SCORM files and ELM module creation is an asset
