Innovate Calgary is the technology transfer and business incubator center for the University of Calgary. As part of the Office of the Vice-President (Research) portfolio, we work with University of Calgary researchers, students, and other members to bridge the gap between discovery and create economic and societal impact. IT Systems Lead and Salesforce Administrator 

Position Overview: 

The IT Systems Lead and Salesforce Administrator at Innovate Calgary is a key member of our internal team, responsible for managing and supporting our IT systems to drive organizational success. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, they lead efforts to optimize our IT architecture, processes, and practices to maximize value and efficiency. 



Key Responsibilities: 
IT Systems Management and Support:

  • Manage Innovate Calgary¿s IT systems, including CRM (Salesforce), workflow and integration software (FormAssembly), project management (Asana or other), membership platform, Expert Advisor time tracking (Time Factor), programming training platform (Thinkific), and IP management (Wellspring).
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of custom solutions and integrations into Salesforce, including data capture and storage. 
  • Ensure the smooth functioning, security, and reliability of these systems to meet the diverse needs of our organization.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across departments to understand and address operational efficiency opportunities and reporting requirements, assisting with the development of relevant KPI¿s.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing performance reports to provide insights for senior management decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders as needed to ensure reports are retrieving meaningful data.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance our data analysis capabilities and drive improvements in decision-making.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead efforts to identify, prioritize, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across our IT systems and processes.
  • Proactively identify areas for optimization and efficiency gains to support our organizational objectives.
  • Lead and implement projects related to systems and operational efficiency. 

Internal Business Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal business needs related to IT systems.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to end-users to ensure effective utilization of IT systems.

Liaison with IT Service Providers:

  • Act as the main liaison between Innovate Calgary and our IT service providers.
  • Facilitate communication, manage relationships, and ensure alignment with our organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor¿s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field.
  • Salesforce experience and certifications are required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems management with a heavy emphasis on Salesforce; business analysis experience is a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, including Salesforce, other CRM platforms, project management, and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of and ability to configure interoperability between software programs is required. This includes third party custom software integrations with Salesforce in addition to the use of technology such as low code, AI and IoT to streamline processes and gain efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to driving continuous improvement.
  • Experience in project management and change management is preferred.
