Description

The Department of Emergency Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Principal Investigator.

Afternoon shifts approximately from noon to 7:00pm.

This is a recurring part time position with variable hours.  Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.  

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Under general supervision & direction of the PI, collect data on emergency department patients using in-person data collection tools and electronic health record reviews
  • Understand and implement basic research procedures with respect to informed consent, data collection and reporting
  • Work collaboratively with emergency department physicians, nurses and pharmacy team
  • Work collaboratively with Research Coordinator at Foothills Medical Centre
  • Be available by telephone and email while on shift/at work
  • Be comfortable in an emergency department environment
  • Understanding of safety codes, standards, and systems related to specialization

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred
  • Specialized certification - TCPS 2 and GCP required
  • Training in use of Connect Care/EPIC Electronic Medical Record
  • AHS Privacy Certificate
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
