Description

The Department of Radiology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Under the guidance of the Principal Investor, assist with continued publication of peer-reviewed papers approved by supervisor
  • Support protocol development, development of research projects and proposals, contribute to and assist in submitting research grants proposals
  • Assisting in training others in skills such as maintaining, troubleshooting and using las equipment, plus data acquisition
  • Supervisor in undertaking administration of the lab including, but not limited to, grant writing, recruitment, budgeting and accounting

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Major in Neuroscience, required
  • Master of Science, Neuroscience, preferred
  • Experience with MRI Data Analysis, including 3D image co-registration, volumetrics and quantification of relaxation rates
  • Experience as a MRI Operator
  • Experience in literature review manuscript writing and data presentation, required
  • Paper and abstract submission experience
  • Lab Technician and / or Research Assistant Experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Experience in conduct research, as well as project management, and support other lab members
  • Experience with optimize protocols, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Ability to maintain/fix lab equipment, keep a lab inventory and order supplies
