Description

The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The study involves helping people with mobility impairments use a variety of mobile applications to help with their health. This will include in-person and virtual study visits.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Assist with patient recruitment, participant eligibility, and collection of patient consent forms
  • Contact research participants
  • Conduct telephone and virtual interviews
  • Assist in the collection, delivery, entry, verification, management, analysis, reporting of data
  • Questionnaire administration
  • Patient recruitment, eligibility determination, and consent
  • Ensure relevant research methodology is applied
  • Ensure proper handling of all research material
  • Assist in the day to day operations of the research study
  • Collect data accurately, and ensure data is entered accurately
  • Maintains standards of health ethics and confidentiality
  • Keep office and work area clean and safe
  • Provide mentoring and direction to others
  • Process data using statistical software to conduct basic analyses of trends in support of the research project

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Previous experience as a Research Assistant would be an asset
  • A Master's degree or higher would be an asset
  • Fluent in English with demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with the following would be an asset
    • Statistical software such as IBM SPSS, R, JASP, etc.
    • Reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, etc.
    • Prior experience working in healthcare or research would be an asset
