The Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Recruitment Specialist, Indigenous for approximately 2 years.

Reporting to the Director, MarCom and Recruitment, the Recruitment Specialist for Indigenous Students will play a vital role in advancing the Haskayne School of Business' (HSB) commitment to increasing Indigenous student enrollment and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. This position is responsible for developing and executing targeted recruitment strategies, building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, and ensuring that Haskayne's programs and services are aligned with the needs and aspirations of Indigenous students. The Recruitment Specialist will collaborate with university departments and Indigenous organizations to enhance outreach and support efforts.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Proactive planning, developing, and implementation of recruitment, marketing, and conversion strategies for HSB's programs, under the guidance of a marketing and recruitment plan, to maximize market awareness, drive quality applicants and achieve enrolment targets for the programs.
  • Developing and nurturing relationships in target markets resulting in a diverse pool of qualified applicants for HBS's programs
  • Supporting the HSB Admissions team and the Faculty of Graduate Studies, as required, to confirm a candidate's admissibility
  • Supporting conversion of matriculated applicants as required
  • Implementing a scholarship strategy to achieve a defined set of enrolment targets
  • Reporting on recruitment initiatives and outcomes

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Education, Indigenous Studies, or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in student recruitment, admissions, or a related field, with a demonstrated focus on Indigenous communities.
  • Proven success in meeting recruitment targets and managing outreach programs. 
  • Ability to effectively navigate large organizations and manage relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, faculty, internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with Indigenous Peoples and alongside Indigenous communities including Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers.
  • Strong affiliation with Indigenous communities across Western Canada, and extensive knowledge on indigenous cultures.
  • Knowledge of current issues and best practices in the Canadian context for Indigenous education and support services for Indigenous students.
  • Advising skills, preferably in an educational setting and/ or with regional Indigenous people/communities.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office is required to produce plans, presentations and reports.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, colleagues, school administrators, officials and representatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, team-based environment and meet deadlines and targets.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. 
  • The ability to handle ambiguity and resolve emerging issues with initiative and a collaborative mindset is essential.
  • Willingness to travel for recruitment events and outreach activities.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend events as needed.
  • A valid Class 5 driver¿s license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required).
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development related to Indigenous issues and best practices.
