The Libin Cardiovascular Institute in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Manager. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Broderick Cardiomyopathy Program provides cutting-edge, patient-centered care for individuals with cardiomyopathy. Our multidisciplinary team of specialists is committed to advancing research, treatment, and education in this critical cardiology field.

The Research Program Manager will provide specialized nursing care, patient education, and care coordination for individuals diagnosed with cardiomyopathies, and their at-risk family members. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, education, and support for individuals with genetic and neuromuscular cardiomyopathies
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and treatment options
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, follow-up appointments, and referrals as needed
  • Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects related to cardiomyopathy care
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and other healthcare professionals

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Current RN license in the Province of Alberta
  • Current appointment with Alberta Health Services
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical cardiology nursing experience, preferably in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
  • Strong patient education and counseling skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Preference will be given to candidates with:
    • Training or clinical experience caring for genetic cardiomyopathies
    • Quality improvement and patient safety experience in cardiology
    • CCN(C) certification through the Canadian Nursing Association
