LCR Learning within Libraries and Cultural Resources is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Manager, External Engagement.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Student Learning and Engagement the Manager, External Engagement will focus their attention on promoting the library's services, programs, and resources in both a print and digital environment.  This key role will foster meaningful connections between the library and its diverse external collaborators as well as campus students, faculty, and staff. 

The Manager of External Engagement will lead initiatives to promote the library's services, programs, and resources in both a print and digital environment while cultivating a welcoming and inclusive library that supports learning, teaching, and research.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

External Engagement

  • Develop and implement strategies to build relationships with campus units and community partners, fostering collaborations that support student success and academic research.
  • Assist in the planning, executing, and evaluation of library outreach events, workshops, and programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the library's visibility and accessibility to underrepresented and underserved communities through external relationships.

Communications and Marketing

  • Create and manage the library's communication strategy, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across digital and print platforms.
  • Oversee the library's social media accounts, website content, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with the institution's communications team to amplify library achievements and initiatives.
  • Monitor communication trends and analytics to optimize outreach efforts and engagement strategies.
  • Liaise with external media groups to respond to requests and handle LCR media relations.

Leadership and Team Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor staff involved in communication efforts.
  • Collaborate with library leadership to integrate external engagement and communications goals into the library's strategic plan.
  • Supervise day to day duties of two AUPE staff the Digital Communications Specialist and the Events Coordinator.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Masters degree or advanced degree in communications
  • 3+ years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or communications, preferably in an academic library setting.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, editing, and public speaking.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms, content creation, and marketing campaigns.
  • Proficiency in project management and event planning.
  • Knowledge of academic library services and trends.
  • Experience with content management systems, graphic design software, and analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with assessment practices for outreach and engagement activities.
  • Understanding of brand priorities in an academic setting.
