The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) Calgary Site Research Coordinator under the direction of the Local Site Principal Investigator.

Following established standard operating procedures, the Research Assistant will assist the CLSA in data collection with study participants. The Research Assistant will be responsible for contacting and managing CLSA participants, conducting interviews in-home and on-site through use of various questionnaires and physical assessment measures, while ensuring data collection is accurate along with good documentation.

This is recurring part-time position.  Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Ability to complete assigned tasks promptly
  • Conducting interviews and data collection
  • Maintaining ethical and confidentiality standards
  • Assisting in the implementation of the project
  • Contacting and managing study participants, conducting in-home interviews, and ensuring good quality data collection
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships with all research team members and study participants
  • Ensuring proper research methodology and handing of all research materials is observed
  • Daily/Monthly/Weekly QC of laboratory equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining all wearable devices and equipment

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Ability and experience working with the public
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous research experience would be a strong asset
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel)
  • Possess a positive attitude within a work environment
  • Access to a vehicle is required for in-home visits
