The School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures invites applications for Spanish sessional instructors to teach the following courses in Fall 2025 (Aug 25, 2025-Dec 24, 2025) and Winter 2026 (Jan 05, 2026-Apr 30, 2026).

Fall 2025 Courses of Instruction:  

• SPAN 201 (LEC 01) - Beginners' Spanish I: MWF 09:00-09:50 (In person)
• SPAN 201 (LEC 02) - Beginners' Spanish I: MWF 10:00-10:50 (In person)
• SPAN 201 (LEC 04) - Beginners' Spanish I: MWF 12:00-12:50 (In person)

Winter 2026 Courses of Instruction:  

• SPAN 203 (LEC 01) - Beginners' Spanish II: MWF 09:00-09:50 (In person)
• SPAN 203 (LEC 02) - Beginners' Spanish II: MWF 10:00-10:50 (In person)
• SPAN 203 (LEC 05) - Beginners' Spanish II: MWF 15:00-15:50 (In person)

Position Requirements

• Ph.D. or a doctoral candidacy expected by beginning of term
• Native or near-native proficiency in language of instruction (Spanish as required by the course) and English
• Experience teaching undergraduate courses at a university level

Please note that the courses are tentative, pending sufficient enrollments.

For salary information, please refer to TUCFA's Collective Agreement, Schedule B. As per the Collective Agreement, the Faculty of Arts adheres to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.

Application Process:

All applicants must provide a letter specifying the course(s) and session(s) of interest (in order of preference), outlining their qualifications to teach each course. Applicants who have taught in the Department within the past two years need not provide anything further, although more information may be requested later in the selection process. Please submit your application online via the 'Apply Now' link. Please be aware that the application process allows for only four attachments, which may require you to merge documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

New applicants must submit: 

• A current CV containing relevant teaching experience (e.g., courses taught, textbooks used, where and when taught). 
• Names and contact information for 3 potential referees; and
• Teaching evaluations (if available)

Doctoral students must have successfully completed their candidacy exams prior to the beginning of the term in question for their applications to be given consideration. They should also have discussed their application with their supervisor and include a letter of support from their supervisors with their application. Those who have completed the Instructional Skills Workshop at the Teaching and Learning Centre will also be given special consideration.
