Sessional Instructor, Literature of Muslim Societies, School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures

Position Description

The School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course during the Fall 2018 Session*:

  • ALMC 359 L01 - Literature of Muslim Societies
    Tuesday and Thursday 2:00-3:15

Application Details: Candidates should have an educational background that includes the study and/or teaching of material on the literatures of Muslim societies. Experience teaching at a North American university is preferred. Qualified applicants interested in teaching this course should submit a complete application if the School of LLLC does not already have it on file: a cover letter addressed to Dr. Elena Bratishenko, Chair of the Division of German Studies, Russian Studies & Arabic Languages and Muslim Cultures (including a short description of topics you would cover in the course, and relevant teaching experience), a current curriculum vitae, a tentative outline of the course (outlines are available on the department’s website and can be used as models for your own), course syllabi (courses previously taught), and teaching evaluations, if available. Materials should be submitted electronically in .pdf format to the email address below.  Applicants should also arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent directly to the email address below.  At least one of the three letters must directly address the applicant’s teaching ability.

The Hiring Committee may need to access the teaching evaluation results (including USRIs) for those who have taught at the University of Calgary before, as part of the selection process. By submitting your application, you have given consent for the Hiring Committee to review your USRI(s).
