Sessional Instructors, Summer 2019, Department of History

Position Description

The Department of History invites applications for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in Summer 2019 (July - August):

HTST 213 - Canada since 1867 - Mon/Wed 4:00 - 6:45 pm
HTST 333 - The Age of Totalitarianism - Tues/Thurs 9:00 - 11:45 am
HTST 383 - Military History: The Era of Revolutionary War and Total War - Sat 9:00 am - 2:20 pm

Please submit your application online via the 'Apply Now' link. Please be aware that the application process allows for only four attachments. The four attachments should be organized to contain the following (which may require you to merge documents):

  • Proof of completion of PhD or PhD candidacy**
  • Teaching evaluations from a course you have taught or for which you have been a TA
  • Cover letter indicating which courses you are interested in teaching
  • Current CV
  • Three academic reference letters (if not already on file)
  • Statement of teaching philosophy and methods
  • Course names and descriptions of courses you have taught

**Doctoral students who have passed their candidacy exams 30 days before the course begins are eligible to apply. Please indicate in your letter of application the anticipated dates for completion of the candidacy exams.

Please note that this course is tentative, pending sufficient enrollments.

For salary information, please refer to TUCFA's Collective Agreement , Schedule B. As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of History adheres to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.
