Research Assistant, Radiology, Cumming School of Medicine

Position Overview

The Department of Radiology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Working at the Alberta Children's Hospital.

This position is working approximately 25 hours a week.  Hours worked can be flexible.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Will work with data from human volunteers and will uphold the strongest ethical and privacy standards
  • Participant recruitment and screening of research volunteers
  • Data collection from research volunteers, including adults and children and their caregivers
  • Collection of behavioural, cognitive and MRI data
  • Data management
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of brain imaging data
  • Contribute to peer reviewed publications
  • Attending meetings
  • Updating the website, as required

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma required
  • Post-secondary degree would be an asset
  • Experience working with people in health, research or educational environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment and also to work independently
  • Ability to work successfully within a timeframe
  • Ability to self-motivate and take initiative
  • Resourceful, energetic, self-directed and creative
  • Strong people skills
  • Aptitude and interest in working with children
  • Experience a research environment (imaging, cognitive, psychological) will be an asset
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
