Position Overview

The Olympic Oval in the Faculty of Kinesiology is currently seeking several Recurring Part-time Ice and Facility Monitors.

This position reports to the Team Lead, Sport Activites, and ensures the safety, pleasure and enjoyment of our customers during skating hours. Half of the required shift will be working as Ice Patrol and the remaining half will be working as Facility Monitor.


Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Assist maintenance staff during Zamboni crossings and first aid calls
  • Enforce the rules during public skating and running track sessions
  • Ensure customers are adhering to Public skating policies and procedures
  • Complete all duties on the Olympic Oval Daily Task Form
  • Provide a safe and clean environment
  • Assist other Ice or Facility Monitors during Public sessions as required
  • Update locker room board

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of customers, user groups, students, faculty and staff
  • Must be able to skate continuously for two-hour periods of time
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts per week
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certifications are required
