Salary: $55,000 CAD per year, plus University of Calgary Plan C Benefits
The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in new energy technologies with the focus on electrocatalytic and photocatalytic systems. This full-time fixed term position is for one year and may be extended based on the performance evaluation in the first year.
Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral scholar to work on advancing methods for the assessment of new energy technologies with a focus on electrocatalytic and photocatalytic systems, including CO2 photo/electro-reduction, photocatalytic/photo-electrochemical water splitting, and biomass photo/electro-oxidation. The successful candidate will work under supervision of Dr. Joule Bergerson, Dr. Sean McCoy and Dr. Md Kibria, focusing on the University of Calgary CFREF grand challenges of zero CO2 emissions energy extraction from petroleum reservoirs and next generation CO2 capture and conversion catalysis.
The postdoc will work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists integrating data for technologies and concepts at different stages of technological development. This team member will collect and synthesize data from these technological systems, apply principles of techno-economic and life cycle assessment to evaluate the systems, and advance techno-economic and lifecycle assessment methods. This position will support a team of researchers to develop new technologies and will contribute to publication of peer-reviewed papers in high-impact scientific journals related to systems analysis of early stage energy technologies.
Qualifications:
*To be eligible as a Postdoctoral scholar at the University of Calgary, you must have been awarded a PhD or equivalent degree within five (5) years immediately preceding the appointment. Please review the Postdoc Eligibility Guidelines for more information prior to applying for this position
