Position Overview

The Medicine IT in the Cumming School of Medicine is currently seeking a Full-time Regular SharePoint and Reporting Analyst .

The SharePoint and Reporting Analyst position is within the Applications and BIA portfolio in Information Technologies, reporting to the Associate Director, Applications and Web Services. The position is assigned to work with the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Senior Director of CSM. The SharePoint and Reporting Analyst is responsible for the development and sustainment support of template based and customized SharePoint solutions along with the development and sustainment support of reports in technologies including Power BI and Tableau.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Gathering/Technical Design and Development

  • Provide analysis, technical guidance and approaches to automating and/or enhancing business processes by leveraging SharePoint and Reporting capabilities
  • Execute day-to-day operations of the Enterprise Collaboration Service including:
    • Providing dedicated technical support to the CSM business community
    • Provisioning of new SharePoint sites
    • Provide backup support to the entire Enterprise Collaboration Service as needed due to absences
    • Elicit and document functional requirements from stakeholders; mapping the requirements to out of the box SharePoint feature set or Power BI / Tableau as required
    • Provide solution consulting services to business customers regarding best practices in the use of SharePoint & Reporting technologies
    • Promote the use of SharePoint and Power BI / Tableau throughout the enterprise, effecting good user adoption
    • Conduct informational demonstrations on SharePoint automation, capabilities, features and functionality, and write technical white papers based on identified needs

System Support, Release Management and Problem Resolution

  • Provide functional and technical support to help identify and resolve hardware, software and data related problems
  • Provide the release setup and configurations for custom objects that are migrating with the overall solution
  • Delays and other changes to the analytical and development build scheduled as early as possible and communicated to the Associate Director, Applications and Web Services, and if appropriate, to the Senior Director and/or Manager of Customer Engagement
  • System performance issues are communicated and jointly resolved with the technical DBAs
  • Ensure documentation is properly initiated, authorized and maintained

Functional and Usability Testing

  • A ll solutions are adequately tested according to test plan documentation

Quality Management

  • Deliverable reviews and sign-offs are obtained on a timely basis. These include:
    • Requirements documentation
    • Requirements Matrix walkthrough
    • Solution Walkthrough
    • Test Plan Review
    • Security Reviews
    • Quality control reviews are conducted for each custom object

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in business/computing/engineering, or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience creating and maintaining SharePoint sites, page lists, libraries and document sets
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience analyzing, designing, and delivering SharePoint solutions based primarily in out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality, designing/delivering customized InfoPath forms and workflow
  • Minimum 2 years managing permissions at the site collection, sub site, list/library and item/document levels
  • Strong ability to leverage OOTB features and functionality
  • A sound understanding of SharePoint features and associated uses, and web parts including search, content organizer and rules, and content query web parts
  • Ability to self-direct SharePoint projects from conception through to completion within established deadlines
  • Experience implementing and promoting best practices in SharePoint content management and taxonomy is highly desired
  • Experience working with end/power users to support the integration of SharePoint into day-to-day business functions
  • 2-3 years of experience with Power BI and/or Tableau
  • Knowledge of SQL and developing database queries
  • Knowledge of Data Marts & Data Warehouses
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Proficient in the use of Project Management, requirements analysis, technical design, development and testing techniques and tools
  • ITIL and/or BA certification/training and/or PM certification an asset
