Applications are invited to teach the following course in the upcoming Fall 2020 session in the School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures.*
INDL 301.04 L01 - Indigenous Language I (Stoney)
Thursdays 15:30-18:15
'Primary emphasis on the acquisition of conversational skills and vocabulary' (Calendar description)
Qualifications: Candidates with a post-secondary certificate in teaching Stoney will be given preference. The successful candidate must show evidence of strong previous teaching performance or show the potential for excellent teaching ability.
The University of Calgary will use online modes of course delivery in the fall term. The instructor of this course should be comfortable with online modes of course delivery and students' remote learning. The instructor will be responsible for thoughtful course design and meaningful opportunities for student engagement. Application Details: Qualified applicants interested in teaching the courses should submit a complete application if the School of LLLC does not already have it on file: a cover letter addressed to Dr. Dennis Storoshenko, Chair of the Division of Linguistics (including a short description of topics you would cover in the course, and relevant teaching experience), a current curriculum vitae, a tentative outline of the course (outlines are available on the department's website and can be used as models for your own), course syllabi (courses previously taught), and teaching evaluations, if available. Materials should be submitted electronically in .pdf format to the email address below. Applicants should also arrange to have 3 letters of recommendation sent directly to the email address below. At least 1 of the 3 letters must directly address the applicant's teaching ability.
Graduate students are eligible to apply for sessional instructor positions only if they have been given permission by their supervisor. (If the supervisor is providing a letter of reference please ask that they indicate consent as part of their letter. Otherwise, ask them to provide a separate written statement). Student applicants are strongly encouraged to take an instructional skills workshop, such as the one offered at the UofC's Teaching and Learning Centre.
