Position Description

Applications are invited for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course in the Fall 2020 session for the Division of Music, School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). Lectures for the Fall 2020 term run from Sept. 8 to Dec. 9, 2020.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING COURSE OFFERING IS TENTATIVE, PENDING FUNDING AND SUFFICIENT ENROLLMENTS. 

MUSI 325A Musicianship II

Current Offering:
Fall 2020 Lab 01 Mon/Wed/Fri 9:00-9:50 a.m.
Sessional hired at 1 HCE

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most Fall 2020 courses at the University of Calgary will be offered as online/remote courses. MUSI 325A will, thus, be an online/remote offering and will not have any in-person class meetings.

Course Description:

Further development of skills in rhythm, intonation and sight-singing.  Performance of two-part contrapuntal exercises with chromatic modulation.  Introduction to atonal exercises.
Course Hours: 3 units; H(0-6)
Prerequisite(s): Music 225
Notes: This course meets for three hours per week during the Fall and Winter Terms.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in music and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong aural and rhythmic skills and knowledge of soflège systems
  • Keyboard sills are a strong asset
  • Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to deliver curriculum at the post-secondary level.  Experience supervising and mentoring graduate student assistants.
