Position Description

The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), Division of Drama invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course in the Fall 2020.

Please note that the method of instruction for the above courses will be online. Applicants must have experience delivering courses in a remote setting, which includes evidence of successful use of online lectures, student participation channels, and assessment methods. 

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING COURSE OFFERINGS ARE TENTATIVE, PENDING FUNDING AND SUFFICIENT ENROLMENTS. 

Fall 2020 - BLOCK WEEK COURSE (August 31 - September 4)

DRAM 381.05  TOPICS IN THEATRE PRACTICE - Scenic Art
Course Description: Special topics in the study of scenography and techniques for the scenographer.
 Fall 2020 SEM 01 and LAB B01. Web-based (synchronous or asynchronous). Sessional hired at 1 HCE.

Qualifications/Requirements for all Technical Theatre / Production Courses:

  1. M.F.A. in Drama and/or significant experience in professional theatre with professional membership in CAEA (Canadian Actors' Equity Association), ADC (Associated Designers of Canada), or IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) or other similar organizations.
  2. Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to deliver stage management curriculum at the post-secondary level with requisite theoretical and practical approaches. 
  3. Experience delivering web-based courses an asset; proficiency with online instruction tools (e.g., Zoom, Yuja, D2L, etc.) preferred. 
  4. Experience and knowledge of non-traditional practices of theatre-making preferred; experience working with Indigenous, Black or BIPOC theatre companies considered an asset.
