Position Description

The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), for the Division of Music in the Faculty of Arts invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the following courses in the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 sessions. Lectures for the Fall 2021 term run from September 7 to December 8, 2021 and lectures for the Winter 2022 term run from January 10 to April 12, 2022. Please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING COURSE OFFERINGS ARE TENTATIVE, PENDING FUNDING AND SUFFICIENT ENROLMENTS. 

MUSI 221/223; 321/323; 421/423; 521/523; 621/623; 462; 562: 
Performance Practicum / Junior Performance Project / Senior Performance Project

(Applied Music Lessons in Bassoon, Cello, Clarinet, Contrabass, Drum set, Flute, French Horn, Guitar, Oboe, Organ, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba/Euphonium, Viola, Violin, Voice)

Current Offering:

Fall 2021 and Winter 2022: TBA
Sessional hired according to a Letter of Understanding for Musicians One-on-One Instruction: six students shall be the equivalent of one half-course (1.0 HCE).

Course Description:
Applied instruction in instrument or voice.
Course Hours: 12-36 hours; for MUSI 462/562: 24-48 hours
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the BMus program. Students not admitted to the BMus program may register with an audition and consent of the Division Chair, Music.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Music with an emphasis on performance (doctorate preferred) and/or equivalent professional experience 
  • Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to teach music majors at the post-secondary level
  • Strong organizational and professional skills
