Provisional Psychologist, Werklund School of Education

Position Description

The Department of Integrated Services in Education in the Werklund School of Education invites applications for a Provisional Psychologist commencing January 1, 2022. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team to provide assessment and intervention services to children, youth, and families in a University based training clinic. The incumbent will also have ample exposure to teaching, professional development, and supervision. The ideal candidate will have training and experience providing psychoeducational assessments and intervention services and has obtained a graduate degree in educational or school psychology.

Integrated Services in Education (ISE) provides a practicum experience for graduate students in School and Applied Child Psychology and Counselling Psychology programs to develop skills appropriate to their areas of study. The clinicians in ISE are graduate students who are applying assessment skills under the supervision of Supervising Psychologists, who are Registered Psychologists in Alberta. Within this mandate, ISE also strives to provide quality, lower cost services to members of the community. Presently, ISE provides psychoeducational assessments for children, approximately 5 to 20 years of age, including those transitioning into and out of K - 12 schooling. Additionally, ISE offers a reading intervention program for children in Grades 2 to 4 and a variety of counselling programs for children, youth, parents, and emerging adults. 

Position Includes:

• Working 7 hours a day for 48 weeks between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
• Four weeks of personal time during the year contract; three during scheduled University breaks and one negotiable.
• Reception to meet, greet, and book clients.
• Administrative services provided to create and close files and manage payment.
• All essential resource materials and supplies provided. 
• Supervision provided as outlined by the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
• Salary plus minimal benefits.

Qualifications:

• Registered as a Provisional Psychologist with the CAP.
• Strong psychoeducational assessment training.
• Excellent command of English language, written and oral/verbal.
• Computer literate.
• Experience working with children and youth.
