Position Overview
The Faculty of Kinesiology is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Facility Operator.
The Operations Unit is responsible for maintaining and operating the Kinesiology Complex and outdoor playing fields. The Complex is open 362 days a year, servicing approximately 2,000,000 people per annum. The complex has five gymnasia, two dance studios, one 50 metre swimming pool, one combative room, two weight rooms, one fitness studio, two multi purpose studios, multiple classroom and boardrooms, one 200 metre, 6 lane running track, one gymnastics centre, thirteen squash courts, five racquetball courts, four outdoor grass playing fields, one outdoor turf field, four outdoor tennis courts, one indoor climbing wall, one indoor bouldering wall, one cycling centre, one anatomy lab, three computer labs, the Sport Medicine Centre, Human Performance Lab, the Outdoor Centre and office space for the Faculty of Kinesiology.
This position reports to the Manager of Operations. It is an AUPE position, that works 37.5 hours/week, 4 days a week shift, afternoon evenings, Monday through Sunday. There will be times when overtime is required. The work requires a high level of physical demand, and at times can be highly stressful. There will be a high volume of work during peak times, where priorities will need to shift at a moments notice. During shift this position is the Senior Fire Warden for the Kinesiology Complex. This role is expected to operate independently for the majority of their shift, and will be the contact for any operations concerns arising within the faculty during this time.
This position is responsible for supporting events in the facilities, which range from recreational to world call; the operational needs of faculty and staff; maintaining facilities and equipment, and monitoring building systems.
The incumbent will apply specialized trade knowledge to evaluate and resolve facility related issues. Performs complex tasks, and routines in maintaining the complex and fields. This position must keep abreast of current building and monitoring technologies related to each facility and playing fields. They are also responsible to respond to emergency situations and the security of the facilities. This position contributes to the development of procedures and practices used within the Operations Unit.
It is required to create, develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, Faculty, staff, internal/external clients and departments across campus that support the Faculty of Kinesiology.
