Position Overview
The The Relationships and Exercise Lab in the Faculty of Kinesiology invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The position involves working with a research group on a program of research examining social relationships, support, and outcomes among older adults in physical activity. This position reports to the Principal Investigator of the research group.
This position involves assisting with research projects examining social relationships in the context of older adult physical activity. The projects examine the role of social support in physical activity, lived experience with social support in the physical activity context, program evaluation issues and methods, stakeholder perspectives and engagement, and the impact of COVID-19 on providing and accessing support through physical activity.
The position involves coordinating meetings and data collection, assisting with data collection, qualitative data analysis, some quantitative analysis, assisting with interpretation of data, assisting with writing academic and community reports of research findings, assisting with preparing for and delivering knowledge engagement activities, and communication with the research team and partners. The position may also include other organizational and administrative duties. Work is routinely reviewed by the Principal Investigator, and other members of the research group. This position is a fixed term position.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance with conducting data collection, data analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of research findings, and also includes participating in and contributing to research team meetings, conducting literature searches and summaries, and other organizational and administrative duties for research projects related to physical activity, aging, and social support and inclusion. The Research Assistant responsibilities may include, but are not limited to assisting with coordinating and attending research team meetings, maintaining research and research team records, conducting literature searches and extracting relevant data, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, interpretation of data, writing and reporting of information for this project to academic, practitioner, and community audiences, as well as other administrative research related duties. The Research Assistant will work closely with the research team. Success in the role will require strong working knowledge and experience with qualitative and quantitative research in the area of social support, physical activity, and aging; strong knowledge of the theoretical and empirical literature in the area of social support, physical activity, and aging; and strong skills in judgment and decision making, following procedures and guidelines, and collaboration with the research team. Activities will also include supporting publication through literature review and assisting with writing and preparing reports for presentation.
